I agree with you and the fact I read this right after the Flower of Alosha/Mirror of Targa was like splashing a bucket of cold water on my face.

the quality of the art with how it's expressive and immersive makes it easy for many people to overlook the shallow writing... the result is mostly flash and and an inkling of substance with no follow-through.

Yes, that's true. But I think that's because the kind of audience that comes to read this story isn't too worried about shallow writing. Most of us here wanna see some beautifully drawn dirty yaoi with veins showing, blushing, buff bodies and fat dicks. I think this is kinda like saying "marvel movie storylines are shallow, repetitive, and predictable". And of course that's objectively true in a way, the audience that goes to see marvel movies are just wanting to watch people fight all day and to see a hero that saves the day. I will say that I love the art style of this yaoi so much, fuck it's amazing, I'm not here for a good plot or to see revolutionary writing. There are tons of other BL's that have extremely good writing if that's what you're looking for. Your critique is valid, but isn't considerate of the audience that reads "You are my world".

yeah, I could tell that much reading through the comments on here.beyond that, I'm well aware that most people approach this and other bl/stories that include sex as "brain off" content and are satisfied with the current state of things. i know that the mcu and things like that are popular. in general, people are fine with mediocrity if it comes in a pretty enough package, especially when it's got some polish or flashiness. that's not a new insight for me. (￣∇￣") (I do enjoy trivia, though, so if you want to try tell me something I don't know, please go right ahead, no joke (⌒▽⌒))

I think I'm already showing a lot of consideration and restraint towards the fans by limiting myself to replying only to people who also aren't feeling the story. my bad for wanting to vent and commiserate, I guess. unfortunately, there's a whole bunch of stuff that isn't sex to distract from the main attraction here. sexy moments aren't a big enough appeal for me to overlook the rest of it when it's not a pwp oneshot.

so I wanted to express my thoughts and feelings about constantly being baited by nice art and interesting premises that don't do anything worthwhile with them because apparently the inclusion of sexual content means that all depth and complexity goes out the window.

there's other stuff that balance story and art (and smut) well, but they're relatively few and far between. most of what I've been keeping up with is on hiatus, so here I am killing time. and besides, I have to try out things that turn out to miss the mark to end up finding those series anyways, which means coming across and trying series like this.
