Wow this manga just keeps getting better. Art is inherently political whether it was intended or not, like Yatora with his billboard art or "Untitled" (Portrait of Ross in L.A.).
Now allow me to rant, I never expected a japanese manga about art to speak about my country's sociocultural issues. So for those who want to know:
We have a very strong connection to our (indigenous) roots that expand in all kind of art forms and are very proud of that. Yet the constant bloodshed in our country makes it hard to be proud of what our country currently is.
Feminicide is one major issue, March 8 (8M) is not a celebration here, it's a day of remembrance, of all the women killed, kidnapped and exploited. Every day 10-14 women are murdered in Mexico. The 8M is a day we women unite to protest for our right, for our death and sorority. Sometimes by Iconoclasm (a wall, a monument is never worth more than a woman's life), others by creating art, we dance, draw and write songs about feminicide and feminism and the plagues that bleed our country dry. Please look up "Madres buscadoras".
Other very important issue is the gentrification of our country and the constant ecocide. Our corrupt government trades our country for money and let it become the world's dumpster for their ecocidal projects (Specially USA). Our people, animals and nature are displaced and killed for this. Slowly we are all rising up to stop this, but it's happening all over the country.
Mexico is the country with the most murders of journalists, so the truth never reaches far. They also murder our activists, so people are always afraid to speak out.
People were especially outraged to "host" the FIFA world cup, and we tried our best to use the spotlight to protest, but truly I do not know how much was able to be seen and heard.
There is more to say but I just wanted to put my little grain of knowledge so people out there can know our country is bleeding but people always try to find a way to persevere. One of those is art and Art is always political.
Why do people say Byul is an omega? He has always been an alpha and looks like one. Compared to all his classmates he is taller and stronger. He checks all the alpha stereotypes. The only "omega" trait he has is that he is too damn pretty. Face card is letal. Part of his story is that being an alpha kept him from doing his dream. So I think the Alpha x Alpha angle is very interesting and fun to see.
Also Byul clearly inherited his mother's thick head and is clueless of love and the feelings of others. (I Love Hye but he can be a dense lol) I don't see his naiveness as an "omega trait" but more of main character trait, plus he is a bit sheltered.
Siwoo is a tall alpha even compared to other alpha's standard which is explicitly mentioned by Dojin. Their size difference comes from that and from the random fact that Fargo threw in last minute of Alphas growing after being in love or something like that lol . Personally I just think she improved her art and had to find a reason to justify why Dojin looked like a twink in Love is an illusion ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
ლ(´ڡ`ლ) So many DILFs, Jiwoo's fathers and uncle have now arrived to protect their cub
I LOVE this story so far. And the thing I love the most is that despite our main character being male, there is more than plenty female characters that surround him. All strong in their own way despite how different their lives may be. With misogyny being an actual subject that the story speaks of.
These women are especially important now in this 2nd time line, from Alexandra to Cyril's aunt, Queen Odely. They are all shaping little Cyril and our Cyril as the story goes.
I thank the author for this masterpiece. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Back when I started this Manga, I was glad Blue Period had no romance and focused on Yatora's journey, especially since a lot of times romance in Manga is so unrealistic, over sexualized or too male gazed. Sometimes a bad written romance can ruin a good story.
But I'm now glad Blue Period is touching on Yatora's view of love. Like the TA said, there's love in art and how it remains after time.
At the beginning of the story, Yatora used to wear a mask of himself to fit into society, while walking in a too thin line of not being too much something enough to define him. Art is what dropped that mask and allowed him to connect deeply with his emotions and humanity. Now Yatora loves art, a love that can be addictive, toxic and destructive.
Personally, here I don't think Kinemi even likes Yatora, she has a crush, one that comes from being show kindness (I can painfully relate) but it's not really love. But now with her crushing on him, Yatora has to face a new emotion love for another person, especially romantic. Something we haven't seen of him so far. I'm very interested to see how it goes for him, and hope to see his love-inspired new art piece once he figures out what the emotion of love means to him.
Reminds me so much of OHSHC. Although I know Ian is the ML I will root for Vertio as much as possible! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
If the Dana please throw away Vertio and tell me where to pick him up ~ ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
I NEED MORE OF THAT FINE ASS OLD MAN ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Saw on tw (@ppuaaang_) that he gets a cute and so pretty omega!
PLUSSS Daeho (Big boy from the dojo) gets with the beta (Kibeom). I never realized how BAD I needed to see big boy alphas like Daeho ヽ(o´3`o)ノ Need him to squish me into his chest too! ゚+.゚(*´∀`)b゚+.゚
Someone said that the author (same as Never Understand) had Twitter. Could someone pretty please tell me? m(。≧Д≦。)m
With Yoshiki's hair symbolizing coming out and/or being more comfortable with his sexuality, Hikaru being chopped off and sent off with that shady company must symbolize being sent off to conversion therapy :( to literally lose parts of himself and being broken. (/TДT)/
(⊙…⊙ ) I surely wasn't expecting that tragic backstory but soo interesting and it strangely fits such a peculiar character as Von Herder.
FYI: Nowadays a baby's cornea's can be transplanted into an adult recipient since its size doesn't really change, just not the whole eye since that does change.
I really hope that ugly ass nepo baby doesn't appear anymore because I genuinely got so turned off of the story when I saw that idiot appear. He is not a visionary and is not a genius. He is an idiot whiny fascist bigot.
( ̄へ ̄) I mean Theo isn't exactly in the wrong here, he's just trying to protect a bunch of orphaned kids, they have no one but him. It would be one thing if he was leaving just to protect himself. But he did give Lilian a choice to protect the secret by burning the portrait...
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Well at the end I don't truly understand the obsession Lili has over Swan to the point she would rather lose her only ally and true friend, Theo. Is this better explained in the novel? As in why she clings so much to the memory of swan?
Just binged this and wow! I literally cried so much (*ToT) Hope they animated this, I really want to hear mango's voice ~☆
(╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸 (ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻
He's soooo infuriating! He treated Laura so f-ing bad her whole life, even when she was just a CHILD. Now he expects her to just nicely get sold off? Wtf
Honestly if he had treated Laura nicely from the beginning she probably would have feel indebted to him and agree to the arrangement :/ that's how nice she is but heck no, sir you are a whiny b*tch
Also the old dude just needs to give up, how many times must a woman say NO before he freaking realizes that she is NOT marrying you ((ヾ(≧皿≦メ)ノ))
LA VAS A MATAR PERRO!!
(You are going to kill her, you dog)
~Pretty much just a way of poking fun at a couple having loud rough sex (≧∀≦)
(´ヘ`;) Ughhh I don't know I don't really Jiwoo with Jiyoung*
I know the age gap is only like 2 years but when they introduced her I thought she was like mid 20s and would be more of an older sister character (≧ヘ≦ ) I just can't seem to get around shipping them.
Frankly I don't think they even have classes lol Even during mornings they are shown to be out patrolling the town. At this point the school building is just their home base fr.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there's ever been a panel talking about exams or homework? ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Anyways, I think most of the characters won't seek any further education beyond high school. It's a small town after all, pretty much they are all going to inherit some kind of family business or get a job that doesn't need a college degree.
