it was getting bashed for its art style. it doesnt use a textured brush but it certainly looks like, the proportions are exaggerated and kinda looks more like a horror story with his portrayal appearing more like body horror. in some scenes it appears its on purpose(?) from the start its about sexual violence iirc , human degradation... it doesnt soften anything its actually intensified.
