Guys if you wanna understand the cultivation world I highly recommend mo dao zu shi (there's a manhua but I've never read it, there are free versions of the novel online but it's extremely well written and with footnotes by the translators)
The cultivation world is basically like China's version of medieval fantasy, they ride on swords like flying skateboards and can use magic powers, in some worlds the magic system is broken down further so people can only use certain types of magic "spiritual roots" and there are some schools "sects" that only teach certain types of magic, etc. If you train "cultivate" for a really long period of time you can become super powerful and love for a really long time, and the best people can even become immortal, without needing to eat or sleep. Sometimes people will cultivate in seclusion, which is as far as I understand basically meditating for years on end, though cultivation is a pretty broad term, just a means to an end which is the power, immortality, and separation from worldly things including emotions. There's also demonic cultivation, which can be considered like black magic.
So, in the context of this story- The protagonist is from a poor family and has very little natural-born magic talent, but sword immortal qin passes by and teaches him a few tricks which inspires him to go to one of those schools (sects) to train and learn how to use magic. But when he gets to the school the guy who helped him already has a personal student (disciple), which is wang yi, who comes from a well known powerful magic family and also has some kind of super special constitution (spiritual roots), and wang yi's supposed to bully the protagonist. Copying from a previous comment, because there's something searching for anomalies to destroy (wang yi), S0 sealed his memories until it's scanned this story and passed by.
