Half the time it’s just “wah wah wah romance bad”. Like I get it but I personally don’t care if there is or isn’t I’m still gonna eat up the whole story. This also got me thinking how different would the comment section be if it was same sex romance instead of romance between a male and female
Your thought at the end was a very real question, I’m a very big fan of BL and YAOI however, My reason for not likening when they add romance to an action plot is because they tend to use annoying characteristics that make it hard to like the FL if there were one. Like whiny, annoying, frustrating girls as the FML. And it’s also cuz once they add a romance line to this type of story it becomes predictable and there’s way less action than if they left it without a FML. But I agree with you regardless of my personal thoughts
I 100% agree. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of romance subplots in action comics, I find the constant complaining annoying. I want to read discussions more relevant to the story and recent chapters. The author isn't even gonna see comments here anyways. I also agree with DweebKIKI1. I feel like the FLs would be less complained about of authors made them more likeable and not just hindrances to the MCs plans. But still, if the FLs were gender swapped I don't think those same traits would be shit on so much

Yeah if the genders were switched they wouldn’t be shit on, I think it’s cuz authors always have this stereotype in their mind abt how men should act even if they were gay/bi/anything else, and wouldn’t purposely make the male love interest annoying or less likeable. However since it’s a girl they would because of gender roles/stereotypes, and there’s so many stories with annoying FMLs so they probably don’t even think it’s a bad thing imo
As was said... they just make FLs so dang annoying... and ahen they make bl with someone that annoying, weak and burdensome... you bet they get shat on too. XD If they were genderswapped tho... it would probably be a bromance and bl fans would just ship them even with no real romance there. Also, I wouldn't mind if the FL was this new girl, as long as she kept her determination and strength from the past life. I fear she'll turn into a bumbling stuttering fool too busy following the very unintelligent princess around and become strong enough to protect her (cuz that dumb bish will probably get into more trouble) but not strong enough to contend with mc like last life. I think the biggest problem with romance in action comics is that the FLs are made "to be protected" and not "partners". As a female reader it honestly feels bad to see FLs being too inferior to MC that frequently. I think the closest I can get guys to understand how badly made the female characters are is asking them to imagine MC acting all "cutesy" instead. Like, instead of mr. cool guy with arms crossed or hands in pocket by the wall... imagine him with that feet facing each other, hands on the waist and pouty face girl get drawn in. Top it with him whinnying and finishing sentences with mo~ ne~ or other "cutesy sounds". To finish, he walks around... skipping and humming. He's still strong, still smart but have this weird image that makes him look very uncool. It's either that or mc being all powerfull but needing a girl to save him all the time because the enemy was too strong for him.
Sorry it got long... anyway... I'd probably wish there's no romance if the romantic interest kept same annoying traits... no matter if BG, BL or GL... annoying partners and badly written romance can destroy a good plot.

Fr... this one is kinda an exemple... this is the 3rd male mc that was "used" and betrayed/killed by the family, went back to when was a kid and did sheet no kid would do... This assassin, the one with dog breed names?, the "shadow" one. Tbh I eat it everytime... but also, everytime they meet a girl that complicates their plans, twist and bend their objectives and need to be saved from time to time...and there's no acquaintances to friends to lovers... is just... mc saves them and they fall at his feet... Sorry for the rant... but yeah 99% of the romances in action are the same cliché... as girls liking or not we kinda associate with the fl... and it is maddening how stupid and boring it gets from this pov... Again... sorry for the rant... (▰˘◡˘▰)
