People are really like "she's acting like a child isn't she 18 mentally?" and like, bros, I hate to break it to you but
1. technically you're still a child at 18, your brain ain't done developing until you're like 26 so you still don't have all the executive functioning capabilities of a full-fledged adult
2. and that's for neurotypical people which Hailynn is not because she went through some serious bullshit and she definitely has PTSD which directly affects brain development because stress hormones have neurotoxic effects
3. and that's assuming she is retaining the level of brain development she had in her previous life instead of her brain growing all over again, in which case no matter what memories she has she's still gonna have a kid's brain and they do not work the same at all
4. even leaving the neurodevelopmental possibilities aside, if you confine a person for a significant period of time they're not gonna act like an average person for their age because we're social animals and Hailynn didn't have the social exposure that someone at her age needed so she's probably still mentally a kid
