As a novel reader I'd say the manhwa is pretty good.
The novel is very plot centered and much detailed. The manhwa covers 2 novel chapters in 1 episode, but doing a good job at squeezing the information too.
I'd suggest you read the manhwa first and then novel (either from start or recent one, depends on you).
