This is just a rape fantasy. I just got through the first four chapters and this would send someone into a spiral. How is drugging someone, raping someone, blackmailing someone a good way to start a book.

I honestly feel for riftan because he was never taught to communicate or express his feelings during this era. However, life is too short and love is too long to be stuck in old ways . The novel does a great job of highlighting miscommunications between them but I hope and pray that for next season - they talk and understand each others pain more . I wish riftan character will become more understanding that maxi’s role is more than a wife or a place holder in his life . As a woman , she has her own voice and independence. I hope maxi can gain self confidence to be happy and content in herself and stand up to rfitan when necessary .
