This manga is so frustrating!!! Like the seme goes after the uke like a puppy and the uke dates some godawful men??? Fuck that premise, honestly. Just skip straight to fucking.
I'm re-reading after a very long time... MAN, THAT IS MY ROMAN EMPIRE. I'm surprised how many things I remember! And I love the uke so much, damn, boy knew what boundaries were before everyone else! And he forces his high-drama boyfriend to talk. LIKE MAN, YOU GO! I really can't believe how many things I remember from it! Literal pages and lines are saved somewhere in my brain! No wonder I once saved it as one of my top faves! I love how they each have distinct character. Of course there are some tropes that were popular (and sometimes still popular in yaoi), but heck this one really paved the way and tried to introduce some things that aren't present in even many of today's mangas!
EXACTLY! OMG, I was reminiscing about this masthapiece and excited that someone thinks like me. YEAH. It is quite shocking how a work from such long ago was able to ESTABLISH AND REITERATE what preparations are required for gay sex unlike just sticking it in and hoping for the best with no shit coming along or severe injury. GOD! How many works are with that bs? OMFG. Shunpei is so emotionally mature and brave to let go of his insecurities little by little to give his lover reassurance on their bond. He was not the usual weak crybaby waiting to be saved by his seme. He alone thought about his feelings and took action to not let a breakup happen, even petrified but strong willed to talk it out with his lover.
Man, I'm older than our hero and will get less that 6 hours of sleep after this!
I got so invested in the story! Science-mage's dept finally getting the funding! Yay! The Saint saving everyone in the church! JUST WOW!!! Our dear Norbert writing to his Royal Dad about everything happening to Sei-san! Basically the king is reading the same story we do! Hilarious! But also our happy couple having the support AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL!!!
Why don't they get married already? Like that would immediately take the question of who's there to care for Sei-san off the table!
Probably one of my top 10 yaoi mangas. And reading it every time makes me appreciate it a little more. That moment when Ilic remembers that there are gonna be fireworks, thinks of watching them together with Say-an and instantly gets to his feet; that's brought tears to my eyes, NGL. And then he thinks that this man is trapped in the castle for being too beautiful (which circles back to him been jelly that the prince holds hands freely with his future bride). This time around I've also quite enjoyed the irony that they could have killed each other so many times. But instead their love made them softer. And Say-an freaking matches several couples, me thinks??? Like man you should become a matchmaker when you retire. Also, Ilic is such a babyboy while also being a murder machine. (づ￣ ³￣)づ
Also while reading I suddenly started singing "Love You Anyway" by Boyzone, and then I realized WHAT I was singing. Some of the lyrics are in the manga itself, LOL.
I know this will never be explicit but like I can totally picture Otsu being naughty during their first night together and Minegishi just freezing, having a nosebleed, and then fainting

Why do I remember reading this like a thousand years ago??? I remember that girl using inducers and him about to bite, but like I definitely read it YEARS ago and it was unfinished as well, ending on that chapter???
