I'm. Going to disagree a little. This dragon did attack his home and family killed a huge number of his civilians. (Right? I read too many stories) I think he is having a reasonable reaction.
He faked his death to protect his sister. Before the devastation, he agreed with her unwillingness to marry. We don't know rights of women in this universe, but it's probably real low and he's planning to die soon.
So his actions are reasonable
But he should apologize and ask his sis what her plans are.
