It's my first time reading this manga, and . . . Wow! It was so painful when Akihito being kidnapped. Both Asami and Akihito really are in deep love, but still... I can't say that thei relationship is romantic, it's rather very not for my heart. I wonder if it's because Asami's world?
Rape is okay in this situation because Aki and Asami are meant for each other. If you can't accept rape then you shouldn't read this manga. Besides, most of the rape is sexy and just brings them together.

Now, we're talking about fiction which doesn't portray the effects of rape realistically, so if you're into that sort of stuff or just like the art or something, you can get over it and just enjoy the manga.
I see where you're coming from. Though if someoen raped you, and it was sexy, would you love them? As long as you two were meant for each others? It's just sad that all mangakas have to have the uke be raped in order for the story to progress. It would be nice for someone to be original once and a while.

Rape is a fairly common trope in yaoi manga, especially when it is used as a way to conntrol someone. But that is not the only thing in this manga, we cave plenty of crime and drama. The world of the crime lord is a pretty brutal one, and if that bothers you, then you should stick to the fluffy mangas...I am not criticizing your taste, just saying that there are some (like Caste Heaven and many others) that you should avoid.
I don't think their issue is rape, i think it's just rape=love, like in the Vf. With that being said, Caste Heaven is perfect for them.
I have a feeling (not that I read it...did not like Caste Heaven for a lot of reasons) that it will also have a happy ending - the tag on it is Drama, not tragedy - tragedy would usually denote an unhappy ending. But so many of the rape mangas end up with the victim falling in love, and really, there does seem to be a cultural bias too, as Japanese women (from what my friend says after having lived there for three years) will 'protest sex' even after 20 years of marriage as it is supposed to indicate modesty - I don't know if this is true, but this may also be the case with mxm pairings as well. Some cultures need for you to be immersed in them for you to understand them. (I am not being critical, just trying to explain a possible point of view - and in VF there is clearly rape. I still love this rough story though - all time fave)

Take it easy, there is no need to be crass. There are people who really like this manga, and if you don't think that there are some rather brutal scenes in here (there are some really lovely scenes too) then you are only kidding yourself. The first person who made the comment is new to this manga and found it not to her taste - that is fine - not everyone has to like it and they are free to express that feeling, provided that they do not start being abusive - you are - however - getting a little abusive and it is not welcome here.
And no one is criticizing the art. The mangaka does an incredible job with her art.

After read all of ur replies, I've a conclusion. Actually, I never agaisnt rape things as long it's a good story. I read again this manga and I knew what I don't like. How should I say it? Since Asami lives in yakuza world while Takaba lives normal just like the others (before he met Asami). So it's like Takaba must face everyone who means harm to him and Asami though he doesn't want. And one more thing, Takaba lives in justice while Asami is yakuza boss. Maybe that's why I don't really like it.

if in vf rape = love then aki should be in love with feilong too. and many other that did something sexual to him. he loves only asami. so i dont think that rape = love in this manga. and aki didnt fall with him just for the sex. asami helped him a lot didnt he? even if the great sex surely did help :). isnt it in the most relationship that love comes after they had sex? admitedly when the sex is consesual. but asami raped aki just the first time, even if aki didnt want to admitt it he wanted it as badly. just because someone says no doesnt mean he really doesnt want to. so i am not that much dirstutbed by rape scenes in yaoi. real rape doesnt feel good for the victim
Actually, it's not even only in the first chapter. The first half of the manga it's pretty much only rape. And I enjoyed every panel of it 8) (it's fiction and his reactions aren't realistic)
