Hi :)
So I'm from Cape Town. It's a beautiful City in South Africa. Cape Town is a world renowned tourist destination. We might soon become famous for being the first major City in the World to run out of water. We've basically been dealing with a 3 year long drought that wasn't properly managed and we're set to completely run out of water this April in 2 months time. At the moment no bathing is allowed, no filling of pools, washing cars, gardening, we're not supposed to use the washing machines or dishwashers, we're showering with buckets and using that to flush the toilet and everyone is limited to using only 50 litres of water per day else they pay heavy fines. At some point water in homes will be completely shut off (which will destroy the drainage system so it will then cost us to have that all replaced should this happen) and everyone will have to go and take their ID's to water collection points for a daily allowance of 25 litres...And then our dams will be completely empty in April. This has pretty much worried and depressed me so much that I wanted to ask what problems other people and counrties are going through so I dont have to feel like we're completely alone on this :/

sorry to hear whats going on in cape town... :'//
has your country opted to buy water from neighboring countries?

Hi there! I am from a place where it rarely rains too.

Pray for mama mary she will hear you :)

Hi there! I am from a place in Greece (Crete) where it rarely rains too. Our basic income is agriculture so water is very needed but our dams are also empty... The situation though isn't as tough as yours but it might very soon turn bad... I'm very sorry to hear that in your place it is so bad already... Climate change and global warming are very real problems unfortunately so people must value and respect the enviroment all over the world, because pollution at one place might cause severe problems, that will first show up in the most "sensitive" places in the planet (where it rarely rains)

As for other problems in my country I must say that we are in a severe economic crisis for almost 9 years now, and most of the young people here are without a job, so most of my friends have decided to leave their country and find a job abroad. People might say that we deserved it... and that may be true for the previous greek generations, but young people who are just starting their lives are not at fault but they strugle too. I hope it gets better soon for every one and I must not complain... In other countries in the world there is still war and people are suffering a lot worse than we do.

When another City in South africa had similar issues, they were able to get water from another region, but Cape Town isn't as conveniently located and its more a political issue. The area/Province Cape Town is in is run by a different Party to the Presidential Party. The President of our Country belongs to the ANC party, but we have voted the DA party to run our area (since the ANC is corrupt and pretty much terrible for our Country) so this is like their way to get back at us for not voting for them...What we are trying to do is install desalination plants (dont know if im saying that right, but its a way to convert sea water into drinkable water), but even when we have that, it only has the capacity to produce under 1% of Cape Towns daily needs

I've heard quite a lot about the situation in Greece as we have family who live in Patmos, Greece. Obviously the younger generation aren't to blame :/
Hope it gets better soon. Are you also looking for a job outside Greece?

When I complete my stydies here, it is a possibility that I also consider, yes.

As far as I know Cape Town is developed and rich city. So can't it afford the desalination system same as in many Arab countries coz that would be most feasible due to its location.
Also don't get depressed Atleast you have water for drinking . Have courage to face such problems coz so many people can't even afford food, shelter and live in constant fear of bombings

What thing or activity really keeps you going when you're maybe just sad or outright depressed. Guess I'm asking cos I want to get to know you- and for suggestions. For me, it's manga/anime/ yaoi (obvs), but I've also really gotten into the k-pop band BTS and I feel like their songs are the only thing keeping me going...else life would be so fu***ng shit right now :(

Distractions. Reading or watching any sort of recreation
.. but that's just me some people like to talk it out which I don't prefer. x

    Black Cherry April 15, 2017 6:27 pm

Same as you are. But only yaoi manga keeps me busy in my free time...as in like EVERYDAY. 'Cause if I miss a day, I feel bothered. So yeah...For better and for worse, it's still YAOI. It's my happiness. (▰˘◡˘▰) Other Suggestions: None.

(Kinda worried because I think this will go on for the rest of my life! Totally addicted. (⊙…⊙ )

I usually read, but sometimes i like to play games too. Like league of legend :333 I don't recommend the game tho, since they are so freaking toxic XD

When I'm depressed I watch sad movies and listen to super depressing songs so i can feel more like shit lol.

    Night April 15, 2017 7:08 pm

Different manga and books help me to keep going. When I feel powerless, I choose stories where the MC is powerful. When I feel sad, I run for comedy. When I feel hopeless, I stuff myself with romance. Also, when I am too upset to read, music helps me as well, whether it is playing it on the piano or listening to it on my ipod. It sometimes seems like it's the only thing keeping me sane.

Oh, and when I'm at the point where I want to hit something or just break down in tears, I usually try channeling those feelings into writing really gory/creepy poetry. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

    『 cofefe 』 April 15, 2017 7:54 pm

TV shows / anime. And yes, BTS. and of course, eating while watching those.

    in the social aspect,
go somewhere far... maybe a nearby place that takes an hour for you to arrive or something. along with a friend or two that gives off happy vibes :--)
