This was genuinely such a captivating story, and despite the exaggerated proportions I still found myself enjoying the artwork and character designs. All this being said, the rape was extremely unnecessary and ruined this for me. Even with the warning, just knowing it took place sours it. Of course Caesar isn’t a good person, and the story is meant to be morally dubious and fucked up. But Caesar was so captivating because of his seemingly exclusive care and compassion for the main character. He then proceeded to rape him violently over the span of a week, keeping him hostage after having shot him. I’ve read manga, manhwa and novels meant to truly just capture horrible things, but when those horrible things are depicted so carelessly in something where it doesn’t even impact the rest of the story feels like romanticizing it. I am really disappointed that this is where the story went. At least they could have made the aftermath more realistic. Even someone with Stockholm syndrome wouldn’t forgive or forget an event like this.
