Wei ying reincarnated after 16 years in the novel, Lan Zan met him after 16 years as Mo master after he spent the 16 years looking for him so it’s not thousands of years only 16, in general the character in Chinese novel can live long if the cultivate some kind of training and become immortal and live for a long time but not in this story maybe something wrong in the transition, I’ve finished the book but haven’t read the manga yet.

Their body similarity is a Mystery , they didn’t mention it in the book or the drama, everyone knew he is Wei Ying with a glance, and he tried so hard to hide his face so no one recognizes him, my theory says he look the same as his past self because Mo made a self sacrifice he wasn’t reincarnated, its like they switched places, thats why his friend rope couldn’t Separate wei ying soul from the Mo body, no one said in the book that Mo looked like Wei Ying , he looked the same only after Mo sacrificed himself to bring him back, its some things in the ancient Martial Arts in china that we don’t understand

"Does he have Mo's memories?" No. if he had mxy's memories then he'd know exactly what to do when he got summoned. there's a reason he had to deduce what to do by reading paper found in the trash to find out what mxy summoned him for.
"Does he have his own?" Yes. He has his memories but only to the extent tnat he can remember. as mentioned repeatedly he has bad memory and there are certain events from his past life that he could not remember at all such as the events that happened during the nightless city massacre.
"Does Mo's sexuality influence Wei Ying?" it influenced his actions just as mxy's personality did. he could act as a gay lunatic so he did just that and ended up flirting with lwj because of his actions. so while it didn't directly influence him, it caused him to do certain things or become more lighthearted because he was acting as mxy. it probably carried a bit onto him eventually but wwx has always been a carefree and mischievous person back when he was young
the switching places thing is a drama only thing again though... thats why he wears a mask in the drama but in the novel he never hid his face and no one ever suspected him besides jc due to the shit he saw and when jgy revealed it at jinling no one ever said "wow he literally looks like wei wuxian"
the reasoning behind jc's zidian not kicking him out "because they switched places" is literally lines from the drama, they didn't switch in the novel bc the novel says the reason was "he's not possessed, it was a sacrifice" and that's why he wasnt kicked ou

sure! the current translations are not the best tbh i am waiting for retranslation efforts because there are some grammatical errors in exr and their use of terminology is honestly really confusing and inconsistent at times, i don't know why they haven't corrected some of them. like in the first chapter they put "luanzang hill" but put "burial mound" in later chapters when they're literally the same place..
Yeah it’s very confusing. With the amount of places, characters, settings, backstories, flashbacks its really hard to keep track of whats going on especially since there seems to have been 3-4 different translation teams on this project. And their names are soooooo damn similar. They could be talking about 4 different people with the same first name and different last names or they all read similarly. At least I get who or what they’re talking about when they put a face to it, but then a lot of characters look similar too. Still, its a good story.
yeah i am waiting for the other translation teams to finish, i'm glad they're working on it. i started reading it in 2018 and exr finished their translation in 2019 and i don't really like their translations that much. otherwise i don't really have problems with remembering who's who but it depends on the person reading of course
I believe in the novel they actually had different faces. The manga, the drama and the donghua don't follow tht probably to make it easier to cast the actors. And having 2 actors as wwx may make ppl say stuff like actor 1 was a better match for lwj than actor 2 etc.
they twisted the drama by having mxy switch places with wwx instead of having wwx be summoned into mxy's body so there's no reason to have 2 actors. for the manhua and the donghua it just be like that
