I don't think he's past professional help, mainly because he actually acknowledges that he has these issues and needs help with them without anyone telling him that he does. But because he is in prison currently, and even before he had to heavily rely on people because of his disability (which he was also not getting support for even as a kid) like the uncle, or even the brother who isn't even thinking of getting mental help even though they both grew up with traumatic things happening to them, he is having to try makeshift things on his own to try to not do something insane and hurt someone. He's trying to be his own therapist and it isn't working cause he needs a real one, which he isn't going to get and that prison.
Even in chapters later on he has to stop himself because he was about to snap and hurt his brother, which he doesn't actually to do when he's in his right mind, but these sociopathic thoughts creep into his head, which he wants to stop.
It's not psychopathic, that's different. Sociopathic is a neurological dissability that forms as a response due to trauma, that emerges in childhood. Now add that on top of the disabilities he's had since he was born, even before the traumatic experiences started. Dude needs help, and has never gotten it, but knows he needs it, and unfortunately that kind of help is looked down upon in most East Asian countries, including Korea, and going to therapy can even get you barred from getting work in some places in Korea, so a lot of people avoid therapy cause it can literally get you looked down on and in the poor house.
Honestly true i agree with you. But Jingi has mentioned something abt rehabilitation somewhere in the early chaps and on par with your point, they won’t take Heonjae in anymore. It’s also not his fault that he turned out that way ofc bc of his uncle.
Another thing I notice that Heonjae doesn’t like being pitied upon or others thinking that hes some charity project.
I feel like he might also hold a bit of a grudge on Jingi being absent when they were separated and asking where he was, so he most likely doesn’t have full answers or Jingi hasnt told him much of what happened leaving him confused and feeling abandoned.
Atp the uncle just needs to be gone cuz hes the sole reason for their situation and trauma, and continues to influence heonjae
