This might be a silly thing to ask, but what makes yoidel’s admiration turn into affection? It is clear from the start that she admires the pope, but now it is certain that her admiration is something more she is just hiding behind the concept of admiration. Is it because he is the first person who has provided her with a proper trusting home? Like when the pope stood up for her against her family and when the kid was trying to take flo as an egg. Or when he was there to support her in the cave and when she had a nightmare? Did she fall for him because the pope showed her what true connection and support felt like? I am all for the romance but it’s been so long that my brain is having trouble rationalizing why they fell for each other. Either way I absolutely love this story! Maybe it’s just bc she hasn’t said it out loud yet that I am just not quite seeing it

I love this story so much!! Just feel bad for the second ml. Despite that, I get why he can’t be the ml. He doesn’t have the power to protect her politically, plus he can’t change her fear. She needed someone to show her what unconditional love was that was different from Rex. She needed to see what positive and considerate obsessive love was because of her emotional trauma. She also needed a family that would unconditionally accept her. The second ml is a cutie but sadly isn’t what is best for her. I hope he finds happiness :)
