The CP seems to have an inferiority complex…but it was well justified, in a gender norm and classicist society the one who he felt of as his only friend was suddenly engaged to him and was essentially taken away from him, not only that but also same friend fell victim to said system BECAUSE of their closeness. Now for the MC…I feel like they are somewhere under the trans umbrella, so I will be referring to Chris by they/them…but essentially having been denied their identity from the age of 6, having had your only friend, the only person who could see and accept you taken from you because you had to be the perfect wife for him, having to compromise your wants, needs and self for the sake of others…all I can say is that…every character seems to just be a victim of how they are expected to be…well normal.
How normally the CP is a smart and well rounded individual, how his fiancée is supposed to be perfect but not too perfect as to not overtake him, how they are supposed to marry nobles only, how noblewomen shouldn’t be knights etc.
I will continue to read, this is interesting and from what I see it doesn’t feel cliche yet to me ^^
