My thing with this is even tho this MC seems weaker in comparison he also has traits such as being clearheaded, pragmatic, and persistent even if he is poor and somewhat depressed rn, after all he is still chasing the career his mom disapproved of which shows hes quite stubborn when needed. He also has things he values more than ml(his career, his mom, his finances lol). So in the end this outcome might be more similar than u think just cause once he makes up his mind about ML and wants to cut him off, he might never change it back plus ML is not his priority.
