imo once maru devours a nachal, he can utilize their power any time but the last nachal he bit is needed for that certain situation since he mentioned in a chapter that he needs to devour many nachals to get stronger and save his loved ones
but since the devour nachal is slowly dying and maru still isn’t in his op form, we still have a lot to see!
