I think Hyeonji knew about the illness. Her family is kind of rich, right? Because it’s mentioned that Haebom inherited lots of land in Nuldongmae. So, Hyeonji must have the money to track Haebom’s dad to find out where he is and why he left. When she found out, she didn’t pursue him because she kind of understood his reasoning why he didn’t tell her and left her. They love each other too much.
