there are some possibilities, at least. First being that he didn't want to feel foolish if he jumped to the wrong conclusion. As I have run into people who are strikingly similar to people i have known in the past. Second, so Yuki doesn't feel foolish because he didn't notice his friend. Third, he holds a bit of a resentment for them drifting apart. Fourth, Fear- he fears that since Yuki stopped talking to him already as his best friend, he would be rejected by Yuki now when he is a helper. Fifth, To gather more information so he can figure out what happened. Not everyone is like Here I am, some are like I want to understand. so he might be gathering information, He most likely would have revealed himself sooner, but Yuki mentioned that the song he recommeded to him as for a person he was in love with so Now he is going though and trying to figure out if that person was himself since Yuki recomended the song to him. There could be more possiblities but that was all I could think of on the spot.
To me it just feels like a cheap way to create a conflict. There's waay too many stories out there that depends on lack of communication as their conflict.
But I am interested in the story, so I'll continue reading. Hopefully we'll get a legitimate reason eventually.

You've misunderstood. I would also stay quiet about who I am. I wouldn't prevent him from remembering, but I wouldn't outright say it (the exact same as Satou is doing now). His friend obviously closed his heart to him. He wants to find out more about the person his friend is now and what happened. If he tells him immediately who he is, then he risks having his friend close his heart again.
While I admit that there is too many stories about lack of communication. there is a reason for that, since humans seem to have bad communication skills.
However the reasons I listed are not communication problems. They are problems dealing with rejection, embarrassment, fear and caution/personality. We have only what we got right now which is not enough to tell us how they normally communicate with others. we got how they did in the past. We got how they are doing currently.
Completely agree with you. Any actual person would've said who they were right off the bat.
If I were to meet a friend I haven't seen in many years my reaction would most likely be more like 'Omg hi! It's me!! It's been so long, I've missed you!'. It just seems weird to me that his first reaction would be *Omg it's my childhood best friend! ...wait...let's pretend I don't know him. Maybe he'll tell me more about himself that way..*
All he knows is that they lost contact, that doesn't have to mean Yuki hates him or anything. If I were Yuki and I found out later on that he had lied to me about who he was, I would be pissed! Who tries to get close to someone by lying to them? It's almost creepy lol. To me it just seems like a way to create drama later on when Yuki eventually finds out the truth.
All I ask is for the writer to have given Satou stronger reasonings behind his actions. Like maybe they parted on bad terms and he knows that Yuki will push him away if he finds out the truth.
Or maybe I'm just too much of a realist ╮(￣▽￣)╭
That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Your theories are good, but they're only theories. The only thing we can draw conclusions from right now is what's stated in the manga. Which is basically that they drifted apart and Satou thinks he'll find out why by pretending to not know Yuki. We don't know if there'll be more information later on, but from the information I have right now my conclusion is that: his way of reasoning is weird and unrealistic.

I wouldn't have told either. I mean, he's recovering from a serious injury and they haven't talked for 10 years. If he walked in, announced who he was it would have stressed him out and made the profession relationship he's making more difficult. Better to start slowly, give clues so they can reestablish their relationship.
