I just came from " your wish is my command "
why does the author have an obsession on non-consensual sex don't get me wrong sometimes their sex is consensual but most of their manhwa has r#pe i just read the latest episode of your wish is my command and now his boss is harassing him and also make me bark has some non- sensual sex too.
I just CAN'T understand why
wdym by consensual? I mean now they know what consent is but in earlier chapters aren't inseo harassing hi-yeok non-consensually. read it from the start if you don't remember and ik lots of author do this but that doesn't mean i'll just ignore it?? stop justifying rape because it sounds like that ( im sorry if i sound rude, but yeah im not trying to pick a fight )
Gurl, I never tried to justify it how did you come to that conclusion??? I never said you should ignore it either, I was even kind of agreeing with you. All I said is that it's very common in this genre, sadly, and that this author is actually tame compared to others.
Yes, I might need to re-read it, but I just remember Inseo being pushy at the beginning, and considering Hi-yeok didn't particularly dislike it and even agreed to a sexual relationship, I didn't consider it as non-con, but more like Hi-yeok processing a situation that was new to him. This part is just what I remember tho, might be rapier as you say, gonna re-read it later.
You said " at least " as if the author's action is ok. if u have read the other story of this author you will see how they don't put warnings and there's alot of non-cosensual things especially in their story " your wish is my command " i think you read it alrdy so im pretty sure you might know what is the story is and also their story " make me bark ".
Yes, I did say "at least", which doesn't mean I think sexual assault is ok, it means there are different levels in yaoi, and you have to take context into account. Again, that doesn't mean in no way that I condone rape irl or that I'm completely fine with authors using similar situations in yaoi but, with time, you come to understand it's two different things (real life rape vs yaoi rapey scenarios). Sometimes (in yaoi) it looks like rape because authors emphasize on the mc being tsundere or shy, or playing hard to get, but actually enjoys it on the inside and doesn't want to or doesn't know how to exteriorize it, which we can tell because we can literally read their thoughts and feelings. AGAIN, this is an actual trope, I'm not romanticizing anything or giving my own opinion, it's just what it is. Some other times, it IS meant to depict actual rape, and it's either taken as such or taken lightly, even as comedy, which is, well... questionable, to say the least. Interesting that you mention author not adding a warning, since this is a very new concept, cuz yaoi has been unapologetically including rapey situations since ancient times, no warnings whatsoever. I don't think it's a bad thing, tho, I wouldn't mind it and I think it would be cool if all comics did that, actually.
Yes, I did read Your Wish is my Command, it's fucked up, not gonna lie, but I think it's meant to be like that and noone is actually rooting for the manipulative seme and the rest of his sexual partners have just been a depiction of different kinks... It's a smut manga and poor MC got to be the victim of the kinks. Make me Bark was more fluffy, and even tho the seme manipulated his way into the relationship, the main gag was the uke being too clueless to notice seme liked him all along... or something in those lines, can't remember it too well, but I do remember it was mostly fluff/kink. This isn't my favorite author, tbh, but "at least" this particular manhwa uses the rapey fella as the villain, so that makes it better than many others out there right now... That, taking into account I didn't really remember Inseo being rapey (which I guess I have yet to find out after re-reading). To me pushy =/= rapist, specially in manga. That's all I meant, but seems you took it as an offense, sorry about that.
Maam you're definitely contradicting yourself you said it yourself you don't " condone " rape then your last sentence said " i wouldn't mind and it's cool? " And also you're one of ppl why raping is normalize in bl community. Ofc i've read rape scenes so many times im not like you normalizing it I've read alot bls but rape always caught me off guard im saying this one more time STOP JUSTIFYING AND ROMANTICIZING it you rlly sounds like that yk
And also im not offended im just a little upset 'cause you CAN explain without justifying but you're excuses are because they're " fictional? " ik it's part of the plot but you can't just do it the again and again ( not you unless you write manhwas ) the way it's normalize in bls is disgusting and also " BL " is a representation for us gay ppl yet SOME rlly ruins it that's why other ppl depict gay ppl as sexual humans ( idk why i got here in this topic but it's actually disgusting how rape and non-consensual relationships are normalize in BL community )
Honey, no no no, I said I wouldn't mind that and I think it would be cool TO HAVE A WARNING AT THE START OF EVERY COMIC that contains such sensitive issues, just as you suggested this one should
Dear Lord, never mind, I'm not getting anywhere with you if you're not reading my words the way I intend them and you're taking it too personal, so let's leave it at that, since that wasn't my intention to start with and you seem like a nice person. Take care.
No, the excuse wasn't exactly because they're fictional. It was that in fiction, specially in yaoi, it's become a more complex issue that's already deeply rooted in the genre and thus, has developed different shades, only present in fiction... Which, well, you clearly can't directly relate all of them to real life situations, because they've become TROPES and gags. Again, not saying this is good, it's just what it is.
And no, you shouldn't expect BL smut to represent gay people in any way. Please don't do that. Most yaoi aren't even created by people of the LGBTQ+ community, but by cishetero women, lol. It would be like watching hentai expecting to learn how hetero relationships work or like people who think anime highschools are a direct representation of real Japanese highschools.
And yes, the way it has been normalized in the genre is disgusting, we can both agree on that, so I understand where your frustration is coming from. I've just learned to find different terms of acceptance with it, there's our discrepancy.
Anyways, that's where I was trying to get at with my mention of fiction, but maybe I don't know how to express it properly for you to understand what I mean? Idk really.
I said I wouldn't answer anymore, sorry, but I hadn't read this response of yours and had nothing better to do atm, feel free leave it on read.
pretty sure i read every chapter and didn't missed a thing... now what's this (⊙_⊙)
