Ever heard of the phrase "THE MORE YOU HATE, THE MORE YOU LOVE"?!!! It seems to me that both of them are oblivious. Elder brother has a point, you won't stay with someone for years if you hate them, you stay with them because you like them and you enjoy being with them.
The reason why both of them don't want to come clean with their feelings is on the title itself. They don't want to be stranger because their friendship ended. Same thing with the first couple. Their just trying to protect their friendship or so they thought.
