Can somebody please explain to me what is going on?? I didn’t keep up with the story so I have no idea!? Where is her dad and brother? Did they die? Where is the brother friends? What happened to the empress? Did Estelle become the duchess? Why are there war?!!!! Omg I have no idea what is going on!!!!!
okay so... 1. dad and brother are alive and well. shes just being more independent of her own choices. 2. brothers friends are fine. the prince (one of the friends) might be forced into marrying the mc. the royal family has the control (because of an oath) to force her to marry him. she's trying to prevent that from happening by marrying emel. (who she likes, and he likes her). 3. estelle is not the duchess i believe... or she might be? just because she is the only lady in the family. but shes not married yet. 4. the empress is still acting weird. the princess who was originally blind, started acting oddly hostile toward estelle. they're no longer friends and on bad terms. 5. there was a war because the father and lots of knights disappeared while fighting a dragon. taking advantage of that disapearrance, lots of other people banded together to fight estelle's family. they won in the end because of her spirits. 6. emel thought that estelle had more 'pure' thoughts of love for him. seeing him as a caretaker and not a lover. he tried to distance himself by leaving the knights and taking over his family. (emel's family got killed in the war with estelle's family.)
also: main objective for estelle right now is to find the ruby that is the medium for her families oath. (and the reason why they cannot disobey.) she plans to try to destroy it using physical force in order to free her family.
any other questions? i just finished binging it. theres a lot politically, but its not hard to understand. i recommend taking the time to read it all over at once.

Because the duke and brother is still alive, where and what are the duke and brother doing? What family is Estelle trying to free?
