Ok so I was also confused when I finished season 2 and saw new adaptations, and then found out season 2 isn’t even a part of the canon story that is Black Butler ssoooooo for those who want to watch the canon Black Butler, here you go:

- Season 1 (episodes 1-6, 13-15)
- Book of Circus (all of it)
- Book of Murder - 2 part OVA (I guess you can say it’s important because it is animated based on the actual manga chapters, but I still don’t know what it has to do with the main story. I think it’s a special side quest thingy BUT if you’re unsure just watch it lol it’s still technically canon because it’s not made up)
- Book of the Atlantic (all of it)
- Public School Arc
-Green Emerald Witch Arc
***I believe that any new seasons will be canon since the animators have more story to work with from giving time to Yana (the author lol).

SEASON 2 IS NOT CANON (you can still watch it if you want though to pass the time or for when you run out of Black Butler to watch)

There are also Special episodes that were made for season 1 and I think season 2, but they’re little cute stories that the author wrote. Like AUs of the characters or holiday specials lol (you can still watch it if you want though to pass the time or for when you run out of Black Butler to watch)
