I think her boyfriend was totally consumed so I don't think this is the same Zombie. Besides she would recognize him. And it seems like beating their brains in does the trick in the book. Sometimes she doesn't kill them, she just gives them massive damage.

Nah it was really the bf cause look at where the girl hit the guy, his left eye is gone and in chp 1 the boyfriends left eye popped out. Basically the art style just changed.

If he was she would have recognized him right and if a zombies brains are bashed in don't they die

Although they eat so called "brains" or flesh they don't gain anything from it, but they do regenerate little by little. Even from the organs.
Zombies use their senses of their surroundings and won't even care if they're systems are damaged. We live through with the glucose of our brain, the zombies living of from a long lifespan without even needing of glucose is a sign really of opportunity of immortality (Not to be cliche but brains even die from lack of hydration)
Although the MC guys brain didn't actually get destroyed caused we can see him having all his senses present and his emotional, mental state present too.

Lol what nonsense are you speaking at this point? Yes, Zombies have a strong hearing ability but they also have an abnormal strength, sense of smell, Vigor Mortis and an infection similar to Toxoplasma gondii that makes the zombie not even fear what's ahead of them.
Zombies don't need to eat but that'll make their lifespan shorter. Even as a human or an undead, but the zombies have limited functions to its brain and body system so in order for it to extend, they eat you alive, the fat and protein passing through the cell's membrane into its cell's interior are oxygen, glucose (blood sugar), and the micronutrients the cell needs to function hence keeping the Zombie lusting for more.
The guy can still do everyday human shits because he's not a complete zombie, he resisted the urge of eating humans and still have a sense of humanity left (Maybe its just because he was a rich as dude, that's why he's so picky in eating)

About the title itself, I think it's still possible that in the end the zombie will grow some affection towards the girl and in the end they become a couple. Even if you're true, some can't understand "if" the zombie is really the girl's bf before, since not only the face is different but their personality also. The bf was kinda sassy and a coward (probably because he's rich?), while the zombie is childish and such ╮(￣▽￣)╭

True but my point is that the ex bf died at the beginning of the story but this person says that a zombie can live after their brains are bashed out witch is the most common way to kill a zombie I'm just confused on where they are getting their information from in the book cuz it doesn't look like the zombies she has attacked come back so that's about it

I also don't think the zombie is his boyfriend...

Because of the appearance firts but also 'cause apparently his boyfriend know how to drive a car him...
The zombie have some memories about his past life and he know that he was unable to drive that car. (for exemple he remembers that he know how to cook)

Moreover in the 1st chapter his boyfriend lost a different eye than the zombie ╮(￣▽￣)╭
