I just love when stories are like: ‘slavery is fine, because these slaves are happy!’ It’s a lazy story telling trope to dance around creating real relationships between characters. And bolster the main character as a ‘good person’ because they treat their slaves well. This person follows you because you own them. And the fact you showed them basic human kindness is not a reason for loyalty. I can see it now, the slaves she buys will eventually pay off their debts and then choose to stay with her on their own accord!
Just as a reminder, Elizabeth signed a contract where she would become Lucas's slave if she didn't fulfill her part of the contract. That's the real introduction of this world slavery, not when she buys a slave.

The weird disconnect between the MC backstory and the reason he is scared of the ML and runs away is lacking in so many ways. With the crazy mark on his chest I originally suspected the MC was a runaway darkness guild guide that was sheltered to the point of naivety. But no, he’s just stupid and gullible. I wanted him to have some sneaky reason to stick with the guild and maybe use them in turn but NO, he’s just stupid and gullible. I’m hearing a lot of praise for the novel, I bet it fixes these issues but it felt so rushed in the end
The Novel is a masterpiece, the manhwa didn’t do it justice u gotta read it I cried so much during the mc backstory and the angst was more angsty uk
Did the characters names change because of new translator? The change was a bit jarring, especially with everyone being named after water
I think it’s because the names were literally translated then changed to their “English names” but then were literally translated again but I might not be right
