in settings --> avatar, there is a square that appears in the picture, you can drag the corners and the small picture next to it will show you what will show up

The same thing happens with me, whenever im on mobile. It just wont work! So if i wanna change pfp, i have to do so on my computer

it may be hard on phone but on the dekptop version, you can drag the corners so it expands and move it around as well.
