Okay, so, I know BNHA is notorious for its shipping and I am also one of the offenders who is constantly on the hunt for new ones, and I know that this chapter is very interesting since we're getting new stuff on OFA's history and origins, and I should pay attention and I AM, but...anyone else totally ship the first wielder and the second? That scene where the latter saved Yoichi was...yeah
(Also the design of that girl who was huge and said squeak, which was adorable, her design is really cool)
I kinda guessed that Izuku would be the last successor of OFA, but not for the reasons revealed in tis chapter. I didn't guess that OFA killed the holders that had a quirk, I just thought that since Izuku will probably be the one to defeat AFO he doesn't need to pass OFA on. I also had the thought that since OFA keeps gathering more and more power from successor to successor at some point it should become so powerful that the quirk will break your body no matter how strong your constitution is. Just one 1% and it still fucks you up XD
But this is a very interesting development. And gotta say, must be painful for Nana to have to say that her grandchild has to be killed, especially since she tried to help him before. Damn, the whole situation with Tomura's family is just so tragic, my heart hurts...
Oh shit...all is going to hell but I can't help but be excited because I can't wait to see what will happen next. What kind of foundation will they build upon the ruins of this old fragile society? What will heroes grow to be next? Because the characters we've been following will be in charge of creating the image for the new generation of heroes and I really hope they will build heroes up to be selfless, kind and non-judgmental, not overly commercialed and glorified and hypocritical
The same way people in real life glorify actors and singers and these actors and singers' images become something marketable is the same way this BNHA society glorifies the heroes and feeds into their commercialization.
All Might did his hero work for the pure love of the job but he was still glorified and commercialized (--> dolls, TV shows and such).
Some of the things you want in the future heroes- selflessness and kindness - are already things taught at UA presently, in addition to proper fighting skills as a hero. You can teach people to have certain standards but ultimately it's up to them if they actually hold to them. I would say there are presently quite a number of amazing selfless, kind, heroes who are not in the lime light like the top 10 Heroes and are not necessarily seeking it either (Eraserhead and Ida's brother come to mind).
Please don't let Lady Nagant die, not when she has finally regained her hope for heroes
