personally I think deadrace “betrayed” the ML thinking ‘push him because if he stays with me he will get hurt’ trope so she might been protecting him as we didn’t really see what was her thoughts at the time, so she might pushed him away because she is afraid what else her father would + a trauma response (from her mother abuse)
I think he still have lingering feelings for her we saw how he acted when she ‘pity’ Fred and how he blushed? After he knew she used the flowers to bath‘, also he lets her do what she wants (the kiss)
two theories : he is secretly doing this revenge plan or he just wants to keep her by his side
I think berry? (Her name was? The rumored lover of the ML) knows of his feelings? And planning something with him or for revenge or to discover if deadrace ever loved him
Or she might be used by the sister to avenge her brother
Her name is actually Deatrice, they translated her name wrong. The whole story is a messy cliché.
Her mother died before she met the ML. Her father pressed her into such a manner that she reacted as such. For that time period, being an illegitimate was frowned upon. We learn much later he really isn't an illegitimate child. He really was the nephew of the count and his birth mother married the Count, who raised him like a son.

Anyways, his revenge plan was against the FL's family, but when he learned she really had no idea, he ruled her out of the revenge ploy. He targets the Duke, the FL's father. FL does learn her father hired an actress to act like the ML's mother, which lead to the thoughts of him being a bastard child. He really wasn't, his father was the Count's brother, so he was really the nephew of the Count and his birth mother ended up marrying the Count.
He kept her by his side because he still had feelings for her, just hadn't realized it at first, since he was going to use her for his revenge.

Ok I think this will be a big miscommunication trope, I honestly saw the manhwa on tik tok thought it will make me rage and had to know what happens
so chapter 7 just shows us he doesnt have a gf at least he said that and he hates his mother and that girl he was with is a friend who he called annoying and in the end of the chapter we see him on the stairs burying his face on his knees and sighing as someone call him
chapter 8 shows that our FL is a bit much, he tells her lets go out to eat tomorrow and the whole day she is checking her phone he doesnt texts her then she sees him outside playing basketball which is unusual for him because he supposedly doesnt like sport
chapter 9 we find out the ML doesnt have the FL number why he didnt text her, some girls come up to talk to him he ignores them and goes to the FL the girls assume she is his gf he doesnt correct them then they go to eat together and she asks him why he didnt respond to her or why he didnt contact her (not sure) and they show his shocked face then some comments of people online
theories: I assume his mother disconnected him from the FL that he originally loves her but couldnt do anything because he is young so he tries to push her? or not talk to her? or avoid her? his mother is very rich, i think she sent him away to push him away from her, assuming the reason he asked if she missed him because he didnt get her messages, that blonde short hair girl? i think its for the media? or because his mother might be watching him? anyway I think the ML gonna turn to be a good guy or whatever and FL will chase him? or the other way around honestly I think this manhwa will rage me so I will be waiting for the next chapter on Friday I hope they translate it soon :)
