Another FL that is dead set on allowing the story to progress because for some illogical reason she cannot change it "just because".

Honestly would do the same, I am commoner with nothing, what can I do? And not like she knows how to find the fairy. She is helping the kid, returning him and the living the life she wants ヾ(☆▽☆)

? I understood that she is helpless not that just because... explaining the complicated back story

I think they mean that she can do the most basic thing anyone could: become close to the kid by being nice and taking care of him. She said it herself that she doesn’t wanna get closer because she’s afraid that will change the story. That’s pretty much it, which is a dumb fear.

The FL is so annoying and dumb as fuck in chapter 43...like b*tch, that ahole was going to gRape and kill you (probably kill the ML if he could), will do it to other women...and you ask the ML not to kill the bastard because "you promised to not be a hitman anymore"?

Well he's not, he isn't getting paid for killing him.

There are people that will hurt and come after you (many who the law cannot touch, plus you are technically in hiding), it will be kill or be killed.

There's a difference between killing in self defense or to guarantee your safety, and killing for money or pleasure. Why do authors make the FLs incapable of getting this? At least give them common sense...

Same thing happened in Doctor Elise or Lady with the lamp.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ML's mother (Empress) and sister where killed by the then Queen (later becomes the new empress). She (villain) and her faction constantly try to kill the ML so her son can become the crown prince. Even the 2nd prince (his brother) feels bad over what his mother did and doesn't really want the crown, but will kill the ML in order to protect his mother.

Come the end of the story and the dumb FL tells the ML "killing them won't bring back the dead back or make things better...forgive them"...

I personally would've killed them and her for saying such dumb sh*t. I suffered my whole life, lost my family and just subdued a rebellion started by them...and you come in with a "holier-than-thou" attitude and tell me to let it go? Risk my new reign, my life, the lives of my future children, and the order of my kingdom? I'll send your iseakai'ed ass back to your world if it bothers you that much. The manhwa had a lot of other issues, but those final chapters really put the final nail in the coffin.

Abandoned Empress is another one...-_-

Had to drop it cause she’s so dumb.

SaphireE90's questions ( All 1 )

SaphireE90 February 14, 2018 12:54 am

This started when reading a feel good manga "Gakuen Babysitters"

I really like this manga, the characters and story are quite the breath of fresh air.
But something that sort of bothers me is the fact that a lot of people say this would be a better manga if it were Yaoi/shounen ai, I also see this in other mangas as well, especially when the protagonist is a cross-dresser or androgynous female or where males are just friends (no romance between them)

Some of the comments go from saying the entire story is good, but would be perfect if it were BL (in what way?); to downright saying they hated it, not because of the story or art, but because it was fake BL/GL or wasn't Yaoi/Yuri (I mean the tags, description, etc. tell you what it is about, so you go in knowing you don't favor stories that are not yaoi/shounen ai and then bash it?).

I understand that everyone has their own preference and limitations (I for one can't stomach ecchi, gore, lolicon, shotacon, torture or hentai mangas, so I stand clear of them) but aside from those genres, I try to be open minded in what types of manga I read: shoujo, shounen, yaoi, josei, slice of life, etc (I don't include seinen since it is usually an equivalent or associated to ecchi).

I try to give the story a fair try (knowing before what type of story I will get) and then give my feedback based on the the story, plot, characters and art. But I won't read a story that is labeled Yaoi and then bash it for not focusing on hetero relationships or one labeled Shounen and then bash it for focusing too much on action and not lovey dovey stuff like in Shoujo (not saying all shounen don't have romance or that shoujo does not have action).

But there are some people that just go to extremes (again everyone has a right to their own opinions, preferences and thoughts) but they take it to the point where one is unable to consider their point of view (constructive criticism) or be able to say "I can see where you're coming from..." or "what you're saying holds merit..." etc.

I guess I just find that saying "this would be perfect/better if it were yaoi/yuri..." without taking into consideration everything else is baseless and biased. It would make it better for you, but would not necessarily make the manga better.

------------------------------------///////////////////////----------------------------------------------

Just noticed the site does not have a lolicon section, but does have a shotacon section, isn't it the same thing but with different sexes? So one is okay and the other isn't? A relationship with an apparent young/child like boy is fine, but not with an apparent young/child like girl?

FYI: Shotacon means sexualized or sexualization towards young boys, while Lolicon means the same for girls. So please do not try to sugarcoat it.

Also noticed that in SOME (not all) Yaoi manga, some situations that occur between the Seme/Uke would be considered abuse/force/rape/coercion if it were represented through a Hetero couple, but are considered normal in Yaoi (even romanticized in some cases). I don't of course mean situations where that is what is actually happening, but situations where one of the protagonist (usually the uke) has not yet come to terms with his feelings for the other or says no (be it with certainty or uncertainty), but their partner (usually the seme) ends up "persuading" them that it is what they want while saying words of love, but also being forceful (grabbing them, pushing them down when the difference in strength be it physical, mental or social is quite clear).

Two glaring examples would be Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and Junjou Romantica (same author I know). I love both mangas, but some situations between the couples leave me frozen and with a bad sort of feeling (especially when I think if this exact same thing were to occur between a man and a woman), yet in the next scene or chapter it is as if nothing, sure the uke asks himself why it keeps happening, but nothing else really. They might already like/love their partner, but perhaps they were not ready to take it to that level; intimacy is not something to be taken likely since you're essentially exposing your most vulnerable self to another person and sharing it with them. You can clearly see they were not ready, but it keeps happening in nearly every chapter.

Again, why is it okay (at least that is how it appears based on comments left in mangas that present this situation) in a same sex relationship (not sure if this practice is also present in Yuri, have not read enough of that genre to actually confirm it), but would be condemned (usually) if it were a hetero relationship?

I once asked a friend who also reads yaoi/yuri and she told me that since same sex relationships are not considered as true/real relationships then the social norm or expectations are not the same. In other words since it is a work of fiction based on a relationship that is still considered as unnatural or abnormal (even today) then it is okay. Another told me that it is all a story and wouldn't actually happen, plus they are hot guys, so it was fine by her.

Do a lot of you share this same sentiment? Do you justify it in some other way? Are you even okay with this type of situation in mangas?

Would appreciate anyone's opinion on this.

Sorry for any errors.

I just glanced at a few sentences that you wrote (too much for me to care about) and now I am wondering if you want mangago to offer loli? Not that I am for it, but shota can and does have legal aged characters that are drawn to look underage. Oh but it does bother me when people say a story would be better if it was yaoi

    Anonymous February 14, 2018 1:52 am

I've been watching the Gakuen Babysitters anime, and I love it! It's so cute! The "fans" however, are kinda...I don't really like associating with those kinds of people, who say it would be better if it was shounen ai or yaoi, or their GL counterparts. I understand sometimes...if a manga is queerbaiting, and then turns into heteronormative bullshit. But for Gakuen Babysitters? Honestly, I would prefer if there was NO romance, but it's not my story and I don't get to decide. I'll take what I receive graciously, and I won't ask for anything else. I've heard, and also witnessed, how a fanbase can destroy the author's works. My cousin told me that the author of Fairy Tail only had Natsu and Lucy get together because the fanbase forced him. I don't know if this is true because I haven't seen or read Fairy Tail, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

There are some stories that are enhanced by its romance, but I don't ask for it to be a certain type. I'm picky with ALL forms of romance, because I expect a lot from my ships.

I also find that things like rape tend to be prominent in yaoi, and that's honestly why I don't read as much. I hate it. It's not okay. The way it's romanticized, or even sexualized, is disgusting. I like smutty yaoi as much as the next girl, but rape...it leaves me with a sour feeling, and it's worse especially when the entire fanbase supports it. I also love Junjou Romantica, Misaki is one of my favorite characters ever, and I love Usagi and Misaki's relationship, NOW. Before, it was... I actually started out hating Usagi because I had always felt that what he did was wrong. Now it's one of my favorites, but I really don't like how it started out.

When I was younger, I read Super Lovers. I thought it was "cute." I see now that Super Lovers is about as good as shoutacon; it's pedophilia, and it's disgusting. I don't like to argue with people. I don't know any other word to describe a minor, a child, sexually involved with an adult. I'm 16, the same age as Ren in Super Lovers, and inserting myself in the situations he is in, is repulsive. Especially since Haru acts like a sexual predator. I long stopped reading that story, though.

My little sister recently read Untouchable and loved it, but I dropped it because I thought it was gross. If you haven't read it, it's a romance manhwa about a female vampire who finds herself attracted to a man with mysophobia. He hates being touched, and she pursues him relentlessly, and touches him when he asks not to. A lot of people deemed this story to be cute, but I couldn't do it. Reverse the genders. The gender swap would basically turn out to be Orange Marmalade, a guy stalking a girl until she fell for him. I liked Orange Marmalade, but I did not like the guy. At all.

Not everyone thinks the same as me, obviously. It really doesn't matter. If people say they don't care because it's not real, I can respect that. I can understand it. But that doesn't mean I agree. I like what I like and I dislike what I dislike, there's no helping that.

I have the same mindset as you; know that you don't have to think the same as others.

You wrote so much so I stopped reading halfway. But I think leaving Gakuen Babysitters alone and not making it a BL is good. Some people are just yaoi freaks who REALLY do fetishisize stuff. They only like it because it's gay. I don't like those people. They ruin lots of stuff for me. I am a fujoshi but those type of people leave a bad impression on fujoshis and fudanshis.

    justme February 14, 2018 2:33 am

Some people only know BL and think everything they watch has to be BL. I mean yeah, the premise of the anime (lots of boys, and kids) make a good BL story but it's not. So...people shouldn't be expecting BL things. I dunno what's so hard to get about it. I guess you could ship for your own fun but don't push those expectations on a plain simple non BL plot. (Example is I'm a eruri/ereri shipper. I used to go on the tumblr tag a lot and tons of people claim canon relationships between the characters based on scenes/panels from the manga. I thought that was a bunch of bs because seriously, don't mix ship theories with the actual plot. Isayama ain't here to play games with gay romance. Get real)

You should read the comments for Tokyo Ghoul re. The fujoshis are cancerous. I'm not sure where i have read it anymore but some hardcore fujoshis wrote the author to kill himself cause he drew a hetero sex scene

same. i like bl but its annoying when people complain on a non bl saying stupid shit like "i wish this was yaoi" "it would better if it was gay" shit like that. it pisses me off. they flood the comments with " i wish so and so would get together" or " if so and so dont get together, im gonna blahblah blah" i guess its okay to ship someone but saying ignorant shit like that pisses me off. i have a feeling people that say that are probably under aged kids, who dont know what fetishizing is.

    bookmunchies February 14, 2018 3:19 am

Rape is a yaoi trope, everyone is just used to it, it's a point of irritation for us all. As for the lolicon thing, it's probs because this isn't a hentai manga site, and most lolicon tagged manga -if not all- are hentai, while there are a lot of shotacon manga that are just yaoi.
