It puts the whole genre under a really bad light, liking a manga that has rape content that explicitly says how bad it is, is not much of a problem. However, romanticizing it is a huge problem, two comparisons can be Stigma, which has rape and manipulation shown (quite graphically if you ask me) as fucked up and makes you feel angry towards this particular problem, and then there’s Love is an illusion, popular one, that also has manipulation and rape but you almost don’t notice it ‘cause it’s been normalized and most importantly romanticized, you start to think that the blonde one (sorry I don’t remember the names) should just go with it and carry the baby, most people start to victim blame him for running away from the child and the father. This isn’t the right way to face the problem.
So yeah, we are mad at people for liking the absence of consent because it can normalize it and set a standard in real life, and if you haven’t experienced rape before I really hope you don’t ever go through it, but don’t minimize the problem just because they’re fictional characters.

you can’t force your love (even if it’s true love) on someone else just because you think your feelings are more valid than theirs, Hyesung had every right to be against any of this and I’m surprised he didn’t leave sooner (and is still there). I understand his feelings changed but that doesn’t make it any better, I can’t manipulate someone into staying with me just because I hope they’re gonna have feelings for me someday. It’s truly sad to read.

basically, we shouldn't apply fiction to reality at all. emphasis on “for mature audiences” people. the ones who should be reading this know whats right and wrong. if you like Love is an Illusion, or other stories that do something similar like the rape and manipulation BUT KNOW that it has morals that shouldn't be condoned then ok. i really hope everyone who reads these stuff understands what right and wrong is. yup exactly, but we all know the people who read these, and I’m pretty sure most of them aren’t adults nor understand what actually happens in most yaois. Does that mean that Love is an Illusion isn’t bad? meh, the way the author puts the whole story is definitely trying to make it romantic, and that’s kinda fucked up. Apply good fiction to reality (like this story, consent is hot, consent is sexy, ask for it) and if you want to read bad fiction make sure you understand it completely.
