I'm 27 and I've noticed the same thing. People want the stories to do what they want. They don't care now to have the story carry them through, they want full control and to coddled?

But they’re not complaints about the plot, or the quality of the writing is things Like “go to therapy” “the character is toxic”…
Imagine people wanted count of Monte Cristo to go to therapy instead of doing revenge. There are plenty of stories that are just fluffy and nothing happens. There’s also no classic story, of any point in time, that doesn’t have cruelty or toxicity, or portrays the dark side of human nature.
Imagine Frodo asking Sauron to be less toxic so everybody would stop suffering… hahaha.

This whole thread healed me a lil because no joke I roll my eyes every time I see some of the comments. It’s giving adolescence peaked middle school.

Yes there are revenge stories I love. But not Every single one needs to be that!! Sometimes seeing a couple break and find themselves again is a beautiful thing!!

lol I read both, MBO is s good itch scratch, o wouldn’t say it’s good. It’s just scratching that specific hunger good. Problematic prince i used to love, but god i detested that he doesn’t suffer more. I don’t want the FL to make him suffer, necessarily, i just want him to suffer way, way more. He lost his child, and doesn't know how to handle grief, what karma could he possibly deserve?? He never hit her or abused her. He was a man lost in grief who has never been told how to handle emotions.
What they need is communication, like they have in recent chapters.

I don’t much like realistic, emotionally mature scenarios, i just want cathartic stories, unrealistic drama, fairies, over the top emotional story arches, etc…
