Hi! I'm neurodivergent and the ML really does have a lot of autistic traits! I'm not sure if the author intentionally made it implied for the ML to be autistic or fall under the spectrum (most likely not), but regardless, the ML is undeniably under the autistic spectrum, based on what I've observed from him.
Major traits that gives me this answer is how he doesn't do well with recognizing social cues, takes phrases too literally at times, is often blunt, and needs direct communication to understand your point most of the time (just like this recent chapter).
Oh and also not being able to outwardly express his feelings in the most conventional way. A lot of neurodivergent people can look blank-faced when they might actually have a ton of fun or feeling other intense emotions.
