But really, do outer looks matter after all? I didn't believe so but how the first chapters feel so true I kinda doubt it now.
well as i see it, looks matter a lot but at the same time it's not everything, the main character has a rotten personality and that makes her more miserable, not that i blame her for it, its understandable, also her luck was really bad from the begining, so yeah, in some way how people see her change things, and becomes her everything.
But even when people care about looks if your personality is good they will love you anyway and there will always be someone who thinks you are pretty.
an example (not a really good one tho) could be the cliche of the fat girl, when people in movies act as if she has to be always happy and supportive in order for them to accept her, but if she is from time to time not so nice(like a normal person) they start lo treat her coldly, like she is the problem.
an other example that goes in the other direction is when you see the wife of an actor and she looks so normal you can actually find it surprising, because he surrounds himself with all this really pretty people, but he choose her, the normal looking one.
aside from everything before, people talking behind your back will ALWAYS happen, it doesn't matter if your pretty or ugly, tall or short, fat or skinny and all that shit, it will still happen, we only have to deal with it the best way we can.

And yeah, that movie cliche, tho... kinda sad to think that if (most of) those fat/below-standard-looking people were having really normal attitudes, if they were not one of those very supportive and happy characters, they wouldn't be able to fit or make as many friends as the other "normal" ones. But I guess that's just how it is...
In the end looks matter, but it's not everything. It matters but won't last. Personality does... ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
