I really like this manga. The misskommunikation in the story is often Hiyori centered, but they are always coming from an earnest place. He's genuinely just a guy in a relationship for the first time in his life and navigating dating is not easy in his situation (like understanding the difference between human and demon sex).
Having an overprotective brother on top of it may lead Hiyori to develop uncertainties between demons and humans which we sometimes see presents in his relationship with Hodaka. He is definitely not educated enough on the biological differences between the species and often finds himself learning new things about their biologi through Hodaka.
I don't think Hodaka is a bad guy, he's just running on instinct most of the time. His thinking is straight forward and simple while Hiyori may find himself thinking about multiple things at the same time. This dynamic is always so fun to read, the way the balance each other is so cute and they bring so much to the table both of them.
It's usually always Hodaka in the end that has to reassure Hiyori of their relationship. Which is understandable, Hiyori has been spoon feed anti demon stories by his brother for most his life (which is understandable if you don't want your family memebers to be eaten!!!!). But I think at the same time Hodaka has learned to be more patient and understand of others situations (or i hope he has) and is mostly just Hiyoris yes guy (i want him).

I'm really excited to see how "normal sex" will go, because I think it will answer a lot of question, both Hiyori and us. I mean, his worries are legit, even for me it's hard to believe that Hodaka is in love considering how tempting humans are. It's hard to tell where the line is between lust and love.
