Well you think that's ineffective but if you really think about it, Lihuan is being straight forward with his feelings and in a innocent way showing his affection openly, contrasting with how Yuyan is open about his sexuality but at the same time is scarred and scared deep inside, this kind of approach is more effective from my point of view. Is totally open, selfless innocent and direct. Unlike some guy that could approach him openly but with lewd intentions or playing cool to keep their pride. Luhan is doing it like "it's a normal thing to like you" and serves it's purpose. AND he IS pure and naive, pretending to be something that he is not would be wrong
