For me I wish I could go back to the time when I started reading yaoi (cuz that's the only thing I read) and take it slow and read more of shounen ai. I wanna read shounen ai but it just doesn't interest me that much anymore and now all I wanna read is yaoi and not much of shounen ai

reading shounen ai for me depends on my mood. there are really just times when i crave for sexy stuff, or when i just wanna cry either in fluff or in just sadness. shounen ai is still good even if it doesn't have sex in it, sometimes there are themes and topics that are tackled in a certain type of atmosphere that fits, and thats what is good about it. we all have different preferences, that is very true, but we should also remember that there are a lot of shounen ai authors who wanted to depict a more realistic take in life, and in that context, sex isnt always necessary. i just think that aside from shounen ai being kind of a starter for the beginners, it can also be a breather after very long exposures to asses and dicks lmao. it heals or breaks the heart, you just choose haha
