So, long story short the "extra" Grace Bennet is the real Selonia. She found out about the novel, didn't want to go on the expedition and do all the hard work. So, daddy and daughter duo kidnapped a bunch of people, used black magic to place someone else's soul in Selonia's body to do all the work and placed Selonia's soul in Grace's body and real Grace's soul in a kidnapped woman's body. They were supposed to switch the souls back after the expedition but it failed.
