I may be wrong about this but some mma fighters get something called cauliflower ears from repeated injury to the ear and it needs to be drained. I also noticed the ears but didn’t know if the author did it on purpose, if they did I like the attention to detail. I don’t know if this is right but I hope it helped(⌒▽⌒)
