Yeah. At some points it was very good at telling the story but at some points it skiped out an entire introduction of the adventurers and also the scene and storyline about the slum kids + character development of mc. Wtf. Even the expressions are all happy happy go lucky when some scenes are serious with the manga

What really bothered me was that they took Ryouma's whole background out. The father was never mentioned, the situations in which the family misunderstood him and thought he was deeply abused, the main reason the family asked him to go with them... they decided to keep the anime wholesome, I like that, but his father's abuse gave depth to Ryouma as a character so it ticked me off.
this is the comment I was looking for. I was so happy to see the anime, but they take out so many good things that make Ryouma great. They are small things but it helps morph him into a good character. It is really irritating. I am still watching it though because it is a little a head of the scanslation but I am very frustrated. I am at the part where he builds his laundromat and they disregarded the fact that he wanted white blocks to make the place look clean. Also I am so not happy with them changing the goblin quest. They made him only socialize with the main adventurer group until the end when everyone said thank you, Like I remember that arc and I loved it because you got to see Ryouma interact with new people and grow into himself. Like he was being more social and connecting with more people because even outside of the forest he interacts with the same people over and over again and that does happen in the managa too, but he finds more people and becomes friends with them. Everything is too happy and bright and we dont see him struggle a bit and the reasonings its just “OMG Ryouma is amazing” and that just make it an bland basic isekai

I feel the main reason was money. It's crystal clear the anime was done on a low budget, so animating a lot of characters was out of the question (especially for voice actors). I believe this is the main reason they changed the goblin quest so drastically (the rest wasn't changed as much).
But I completely agree that one of the reasons we like Ryouma so much is, not simply because he's strong, but because of how he chooses to use that power, how he interacts with the people around him and forming the bonds he couldn't in his past life due to his abilities being useless in the environment he was at... now his abilities have gotten him closer to people and THAT is the selling point for this wholesome isekai.
Another thing is, once again, seeing him grow out from his past abused self into a wonderful character that can rely on others... I really wish the anime would have at least kept it in... because then you'd wonder "why does he have a high tolerance for physical and mental pain? it's not like he was abused" and BOY.
i just found out that this good manga has an anime...now its ruined just by ep 1
Does the anime have the same title?
On Funimation it’s called Grace of the Gods I think
Thank you
No problem(⌒▽⌒)
