I lowkey think that jianyi and xixi are in more of a queer platonic relationship, compared to he tian and mo that are obviously in a more romantic and physical type of relationship (mostly due to he tian). Since as far as I can remember, other than due to china's censorship, there had been no indication of jianyi and xixi being physical since their confession in the rain. I think the author showing their domestic life and still being each other's most important person and priority until their adulthood has its own charm. I just think that we're so used to seeing couples/partners being physically affectionate but sometimes a connection like jian yi and xixi are also important representation of people who wants to live or is already living the kind of life they have.
and I'm note saying one is better than the other, or that he tian and mo have no or jave lesser emotional connection just because they are more physical. I just think that jianyi and xixi are okay the way they are now and we should stop defining relationships and feelings based on what they do with their bodies

I love this sm, such a good take!! I got into an argument with someone once over how they thought the author was neglecting Jian Yi and Xixi’s relationship progression in favor of Mo and He Tian just because they weren’t kissing, showing up with hickeys, or just being physical in the way Mo and He Tian are. Like, just because they have a different dynamic doesn’t make their love/bond any less than. And why would you want two couples from the same story to act the same way, it’s much more interesting to see their different interactions and displays of affection <3
