i think since ml doesn’t really want to be king he truly just wants to be with the mc….i think the older brother will be the one to take back the throne allowing for the mc and ml to be together. i still can’t really decide if the older brother is like evil or not. he’s def the type to turn a blind eye to the ml pain and abuse however he also wants the country to be healthy and prosperous.
I agree, but the end has me sussed out about big bro… kinda feel like the older brother acts kind but has been behind everything and is about to stir some shit up that’ll bring more harm to ml which in turn will hurt mc
been here since chapter one and i never knew there were so many jo fans till now. i really thought we all understood it was tj since the beginning….i reread it now that it’s over and i still don’t even know how jo fans can look at this and not see it was always tj.
Been here since S1 too and I know most Jo fans dropped this after S1 finale XD All author needed to do was shut their mouth about the story being different than the others only for it to be the cliche going back to ur toxic past coz they redeemed themselves, only for TJ to not even have a redemption arc (?) More than the endgame, the ending is just rushed coz author said this was going to be the longest season lmao In the end, author is only human and she's not above criticism
I don’t know exactly what the author said when stating this is a different story i’m not like authors thing. however id argue they delivered. anyone that reads or watches a lot of manga and anime specifically in romance genre knows that anime/manga tends to favor the new person. often times we see that the childhood friend waited too long to change or speak up. and when they finally do the ML will already be so deeply in love with the other lead. i mean we even have memes about the childhood friend never getting it. So id say the author gave us that- the childhood friend waited too long to speak up however, the ML was always looking back waiting and hoping for it. I do think the second lead was generally loved in this story but it’s so clear he was not his soulmate. i actually felt a little uncomfortable when his sex scenes would come up because it felt weird to me knowing so obviously that he would pick TJ.
Hmm I guess you and I have a different perspective. She said this would be different than most BL works out there at a time where most BLs would choose the toxic MLs or the toxic ones would get a redemption (tho TJ barely has one) so this wasn't really new in the BL landscape. Most BL works already have a reputation to be toxic (I mean look at the most popular korean BL manhwas) so this isn't really new to the genre. I guess most are just disappointed. S1 started strong with Ian actually wanting to walk away from a toxic relationship & healing and believe me that was rare back then. Also it's not like TJ was the one waiting, he chose the gang over Ian time and time. I just think Ian deserves better even if it isn't with Jo and esp when TJ isn't really written well through the end. Author relied on their emotional history so yeah it was obvious he'd be the endgame, so what's new or unexpected about that? It didn't really break stereotypes so yeah it's valid for others to be disappointed
since i never saw the original comment the author made about “this isn’t like other stories” i am curious what the author meant by that statement. as you said you thought it meant not picking toxic people. which is totally true we see in BL all the time characters picking people that have r*ped and abused them and them have almost zero or zero redemption arc. however i wonder if the author meant this isn’t like the author stories in regards to childhood friends or some other subplot they had in mind. in my opinion i felt like the author didn’t wrap this up well. i think everyone can agree SKIP ARCS SUCK. its bad writing in the kindest words. i would have much preferred if we had gotten to see TJ actually work through his shit more. i think as readers it would be better to see tj and ian actually happy and not just this 100 chapter. their whole story is one big emotional roller coasters and it makes it hard to feel like the story is complete because we the readers never really got that. so yes i totally agree with you on so many things!
