(◕◡◕)So I spoiled the chapter for myself yet again.
I translated the last page of 106. Kate says she is Kate Mirror and came to get back the shadow house/ mirror house (thanks google translate). And damn! I am hyped! Although I would need to wait some more for the next chapter.
She really is connected to the true owner of the house. And apparently is the rightful owner now.
G. Grandfather is probably that son who stole his sibling's inheritance or even some guy not born into the lineage who used his shadow's abillity to make himself a noble displacing and/or killing the noble family (Kate's family). Or he could have married into the house and his greed coupled with the shadow ability made him take over and Kate (most probably her parents) had to run away to survive. Now Kate is back for what is rightfully hers.
Another thing could be that the Shadow (Mirror) family could have originally been owned by noble humans who were peacefully united with morphs/shadows or viceversa or even a union between shadow and human (hence Kate is born a shadow that doesn't need to imitate a human as morphs do) without the whole prisoners of the house, kidnapping children and so on thing but the g. grandfather changed it and now Kate as rightful heir wants to restore the house to what is was and not the prison it is now.
All in all, looks like that headcanon of sweet grandpa and the 4 crazy aunts and uncles will only live in my crack fanfic of the shadow house being a good place, a home to many children with Grandpa, uncle and aunts, annoying big brother Edward who thinks he is all that but really just pisses everyone off... He was never sweet because Kate clearly dislikes him. Anyway, I always love a dysfunctional family au.
I am hyped!
HOLYF***!!!!
I can't understand Japanese but from 106, I can bet 100% that it is Kate whom Emilyko met. The evidence I had before about the doll checks it out and Emilyko goes to Kate and she introduces herself again as Kate Mirror (I guess it is ミラー (mirā)Mirror from Mirrorside). I can't read Japanese but have basic knowledge of katakana and hiragana, which isn't enough to read, so, does anyone know what Kate says apart from her name?
I am starting to believe that wild theory of Great Grandfather being Kate's actual grandpa or family is actually true (including Emilyko being tied to the human lineage of the actual Lord of the house). She seems to have the most privilege if she could go in and out of the shadow house. Was she in it before? Was she born out of it and was tracing her roots back home? Kate probably said it in 106 but since I can't read, I'll wait.
I would like to believe she really is for the shadows and humans to be free from the prison of the shadow house. But there could be a twist with who she actually is.
I will wait for the translation and more chapters but for now. I can only speculate.
OMG! I've got to add ...According to google translate of 106, Emilyko is the one who made Kate's doll the day they met! It is even sweeter seeing how Kate treasures it.
From Kate's clear dislike of g.grandfather, I should have seen that being her grandpa is unlikely maybe a family member through marriage or someone with no actual relation through lineage. However, the truth is Kate is the real owner of shadow house (according to google translate of her words in ch. 106).
I'd guess she was likely born from shadows (or shadow human union mix) who were the true nobles (lord/lady) of the house but escaped the house due to the tyranny of g.grandfather.
Anyway, point is John wanted to be king of the shadow house and make Kate his queen but what he doesn't know is that Kate has always been queen to us and not only to him(even before this reveal). She is our beloved Kate-sama!
Other than me rambling about Kate/ Emilyko theories, I got to take time to appreciate the gang. They are so sweet and Emilyko really met precious friends.
How is it that the boys took the liberty of styling Emilyko's hair? I see Shaun somehow won this in battle no. 76357 between him and Ricky.
And also can we talk about how pre-shadow house Shaun outside of school work is literally John-sama, or am I the only one seeing this.
And the guy is a mess. A lovable mess that is. He was there selling the beauty of the starry night sky together with Emilyko and the poor guy hadn't seen a thing when he was with Emilyko. He would totally argue with a statue that he can see while his friends watch him clearly doing the opposite. Oh wait, he kind of already did this.
But still he is sweet, feeling bad that they roped Emilyko into prison. But then again prison isn't so bad with your mates now, is it? I love this 5!
So is it safe to say that Emilyko met Kate before she entered the shadow house?
Is the shadow our beloved Kate-sama or another "Kate"? Then how did she get in the shadow house or out of it if shadows are only linked to the shadow house and the in and outs of the shadows especially children are restricted.
I can only guess she is a free shadow not linked to the shadow house. If she had been in the house she would have been monitored and remembered by the rest or at least some older shadows or someone.
Also, she had luggage with her as if she were travelling or running from something. She has to have been living as a shadow imitating a human for some time. I understand Emilyko borrowing her name but why would she give Emilyko her clothes? Was it just good will? Or was there a plan?
Then the plot twist of all this was the thought she is the Great Grandfather's daughter and she wanted some time out of the mansion and grandpa being the "great grandfather" he is let's her out to see the world (or just mirrorside) and then Kate meets Emilyko, her world, and we find ourselves here.
More of me writing too much again.
I meant *granddaughter. He is grandpa for a reason. A great one at that.
I will stop with my headcanon that he is Kate's (or even Emilyko's) grandpa and he just loves his granddaughter so much and spoils her, letting her do whatever she wants when he is not sipping tea (or is it coffee) on the 3rd floor. And the other four are the crazy aunts and uncles.
It could be true. While I was leaning more on what if Kate and Emilyko are the twin children of a couple (two shadows that had undergone unification) from the shadow house and somewhere along the way the family was separated. The couple could have successfully run from the shadow house or they could be from the direct lineage of the Great Grandfather and had more privileges to go in and out of the shadow house. We can only speculate until the grand reveal.
Wouldn't it be ironical if Emilyko was the one who took the identity of a shadow to go to the shadow house that is known to us to steal the identity of humans.

The more I reread I keep seeing the shadow as Kate. Or to the very least the one that Emilyko thought of when she wrote "Kate".
They are even wearing the same dress.
Plus the doll that is very precious to Kate is almost similar to the shadow Emilyko met before the shadow house.

It isn't just any other doll in the room. I could say maybe because it looks similar to her that is why she treasures it but even so, it looks like her attachment to it is very strong.
Like she had it from long ago, she might not remember (or she might- Kate is becoming more of a mystery and I would like to see what makes some morphs retain their memory) but her heart treasures it.
Also curious, can a couple, both of them having undergone the unification, give birth to a child? Will it have shadow traits? While writing this I thought what if Kate(or who Emilyko met) and Emilyko are twins from such parents?
This happens when my mind goes into overdrive after I have seen spoilers but don't know what is being said apart from what can be clearly guessed from the pictures.
OHMAIGAHD! I really wish I could read Japanese. Chapter 105 is out and it looks like my guess of Emilyko meeting a shadow was right. And I would be damned if it was Kate. Looks like her. Could have been a free morph (not from the shadow house) who quickly imitated Emilyko when the circus arrived or could have been in the shadows imitating her while the circus travelled (I don't think she went through the unification so those are probably gloves and socks). Seeing Emilyko in the shadow's dress still makes me think the name Kate was also from the shadow.
But that would be a twist. Still a welcome one. But then isn't Kate born from a morph that imitated Emilyko when she came to the shadow house but retained her memories? I don't think Kate would keep to herself if she knew she was from the outside.
Anyway, I am curious about the shadow that sought out Emilyko or at least was around her. Who? Why? I mean Emilyko is sunshine so I can understand a shadow(s) would gravitate towards her. Are all morphs/ shadows living in the shadow house?
Also, I was wondering where that bright memory was from since the discovery of Emilyko's life in the circus and it only could have been from the morning of the selection which was shown this chapter.
In short, this story is driving me crazy having to wait weekly. It is literally the only manga I wait for weekly.

This is where I read it
Emilyko is so cute. Hate to see her sad. I'm glad she has good friends at her side and even a name given with love. The name Emilyko has even more meaning now.
But who was that in the tent? Was it a shadow not tied to the Great Grandfather but native to the area? But there would have been some soot traces around unless they have proper control of it.
An important character we see later on?
Heck, I even thought Kate, inspiring Emilyko to write Kate. But that's crazy.
Anyway, I like Emilyko liking the name Kate and it being the name later given to someone she cares about and in turn also receiving a beautiful name from said person (yes, I know shadows aren't human beings but they are pretty much human to me, at least most of them).
All in all, all chapters leave me on cliffhangers. I might as well join the circus for having mastered the art of holding on for a week every week and sometimes longer.
On another note, why are those ring master embroidery patches a thing? Some poor soul's life is being wasted away on making them.
Kate and I (and most likely John-sama since he can pack a good punch and the whole gang since they wouldn't be left out) just want to talk nicely to that circus boss. We promise he will still be alive just not sure if he will be able to do whatever tricks that have him get his face printed out on some kind of coaster. How do those even sell?
Anyway, after spoiling myself on pictures since I can't really read Japanese, I feel sad for Emilyko. But I am happy she made friends who tried to help her even though they literally had her sign herself up for death in the shadow house but they didn't know that. The gang is so sweet to help her better her life and I love how they are still together as they plan to take down the shadow house.
Then I got to thinking about Emilyko not having a proper home and that turned to what if she is related to the great grandfather before the shadow took over? Her parent(s) could have escaped but in the long run lost their lives living Emilyko an orphan or they could have lost each other. Anyway, I just thought what if after the great grandfather is defeated, Emilyko becomes a noble and the owner of the shadow house by birthright?
No matter what, I am glad she met wonderful friends. She is a ball of sunshine that should not be seen crying. She needs all the love, friends and family (the 5 pairs are a family to me).

The hype is real. I can't wait for more. So many theories and questions running through my head!
