I think that it's because no one ever saw him for him. He was always used by his grandfather and excepted to do things... I think it's the fact that Shin was the first person to be kind to him and even protected him from Wolfgang that night. I think that's why he fell in love with him. Like kids who end up infatuated with creeps or people that get stuck in abusive relationships because at first the person show them interest and kindness when they never received it before from the people they wanted.
