Better to read the novel first then read watch the anime and after read the manga and if you want watch the live action but it has no BL because of Chinese censorship still good though. Personally I think this is the best order to follow the story.

It is better to read the novel first for you to understand the story better before watching the donghua and reading the manhua. The live series somewhat has a different arrangement but it is also a good adaptation so i recommend for you to watch it as well. (=・ω・=)

This is what I did.. and now I'm reading the manhwa. But the novel is still superior out of everything else. The rated scenes are just a plus.

Is there BL action in the manhua?

Yes but very very light, so it's just bushy faces, hand touches, and innuendos but the novel has full on scenes at the end so the novel is definitely the best to read first
