My theory is that Herdin probably was cold towards her even though he clearly had feelings as they were childhood friends and all that but it probably stems from his trauma witnessing his father rampage and maybe thinks that not being attached will prevent that from happening. The saintess girlie pop probably helps him control the power within him as it was mentioned it doesn’t mix like oil and water and needs tremendous control.
There’s also the unresolved hatred he still has for the FL but i swear everything could’ve been settled if they just talked to each other
There definitely is some reason why he pretended to kiss the saintess since he showed a surprised face before doing the act and idk his reasoning for abandoning FL whilst pregnant bro needs some serious counseling
