I just didn't like the fact that she was with Biseol all this time but Doha who seems to be the ML was only with her for what? A few days in a hundred years? So it can't convince me how he developed that much love for her. I am team Doha by the day and it frustrates me that in all her vulnerable moments, Biseol was with her. It was so frustrating. They should have just made Biseol the ML if this was the case.
I'm "team Biseol" and I agree with you. It feels as if the author, at some point, due to some unknown influence, suddenly changed the direction of the story, leaving some readers, myself included, frustrated.
I agree with you, team biseol here, when i start reading this my heart already knows its biseol till mid part of the story despite seeing the cover, the story unfolds i really thought it will be biseol that should have been the ml, i keep searching for the answer that suggest his the ml but none. I just think he'll be the best candidate as an ml.. it hurts me but i read the story for the plot and for seeing the end of her journey to be the emperor. Sorry but i skipped the part with doha being intimate with her my biseol heart cannot take it. Haays biseol should have directly confess to her. But it comforts me she didn't marry doha atleast its not this painful haha

But why is jeok-yeon favor one of them more than the one who stays through her suffering but if one thing doha did is declaring his love for her and making a move, while our biseol is contended being beside her. I never thought the development between doha and yeon was rushed. Rather, it was slow burn AND intentional. Since chapter 1 baekrang has hinted that doha has always waited for yeon's return to the palace. And it was explained in the earlier chaps that doha has always felt a special way towards yeon, since childhood!

What is explained earlier about Doha was that he wanted to be "his" friend no matter what but she was afraid of him, and the way that he looked at her terrified her. Even Doha himself thinks that maybe the way he looked at Yeon contributed to her desperate decision of cutting her breast Also she felt unfair how easy things seemed to be for him in comparison to for her. Biseol was ALWAYS there to pick up the broken pieces of Jeok-Yeon.
Then during the trials; the pavilion events, aphrodisiac drugs, the dark water trial, the prison of torment,...etc... helped him to have more or less intimate moments with her. And suddenly there is an unbelievable love and wish for self sacrifice for the other. And she too appears like mesmerized by him, something that to me would have more to do with physical attraction than love. At the same time, since the chapter where they disguise themselves, she seems more womanly than ever... Sometimes she feels like a different character than she was in the chapters before.
To avoid going on too long, I won't talk about the differences I see between Biseol and Doha, and the reasons why I prefer Biseol over Doha (I've already explained it in other comments), but for me it's clear that Biseol's relationship with Jeok-Yeon is much deeper and perhaps mature than hers with Doha.

She was unable or slow to understand other feelings apart of anger or regret... That start to change during the trials. The Hallway of Endurance I think that served her as a kind of therapeutic experience for starting to understand feelings.

Why does this writer make Ihyeon so dumband dense when it's convenient for the plot to be dragged out?? Like if he's like a normal person like everybody else, there's no way you'd be this dense. I understand in the first few chapters yes and I found it cute but it's already ch26 and they are already always together and it's starting to irritate me. We're just moving around in circles at this point.
