Lowkey I'm devastated. I think I joined bato around the same time as mangago. But bato was more like a backup site when mangago went down a while ago. If you don't want to make your account private then don't. It's not harming anyone. And it's not your fault, if you don't want to go private. As long as both of you are happy together you don't need to worry. Find something to reassure them or build trust, talk it out.
