Hello, I have a question mostly targeted to gay men(all answers welcome). I enjoy reading BL with good story and art, I'm not really that into yaoi (just a few exceptions) I look more for the relationship aspect in the story. Do you think reading these stories is gay fetishization if I am a pan-female? (not bashing anyone if you like reading yaoi or anything I just want second opinions)

    supremecurt January 7, 2017 5:36 am

I honestly that it is, at some level.

is there any way that I can make it better? or is reading BL just automatic fetishization?

and are gay men reading about hetero-romance story doing the same fetishization toward hetero-people?

Depends on your reason I guess. If you just enjoy good stories regardless of gender no. I consider it fetishizing when people twist canon to make the characters act in ways they wouldn't. This can apply to hetero pairings as well. When there is nothing in the story backing it up I can only assume fans of the pair want it to happen solely to see them go at it.

I don't think it's a form of a fetish, but more like relief. For example, movies. Of course there are huge differences, but you do the same thing for both yaoi and movies. We watch, re-watch, and focus on them for entertainment purposes. "Why is yaoi entertaining", you may ask? Well, think of it as how men enjoy watching lesbian sexual contact. At the core of any human, we like seeing the opposite gender endure sexual acts with or without others, only requiring the opposite gender. Think of it as human nature rather than a fetish, because almost everyone feels the same! (▰˘◡˘▰)
